Joy in appreciating the speedbumps of life

Joy in appreciating the speedbumps of life

Here's an analogy of how our energetic vehicle drives us joyfully through our experiences via our focus of attention

So we are speeding along the highway of our life often fuelled by our personal thinking - the past recollections of good & bad, the current definitions of self & others, and the worries about the unknown destination, based on the predictions from conclusions of past events. Conclusions that we use to determine where we think will be the best destination.

So, we are speeding along life's highway with determination and physical effort, towards the destination we have come to believe is the location of our ultimate happiness; and then we hit a speed bump

F*#^

How many of you immediately felt a rise of panic, annoyance, frustration, fear, &/or anger at that speed hump for being the cause of bringing your ultimate happiness journey to a standstill?

Did your rampage of thinking curse those 'idiots' for putting a speedbump there, to specifically slow you down?

Maybe you hit that speedbump and had a rush of fearful thinking that you might be on the wrong path, that a road to ultimate happiness would surely not have speedhumps or potholes?!

Many of us, get stuck on the speed hump focusing our thinking on why it's there, who put it there and what it means for our current definitions of self, others and our journey; doubt & fear taking over.

And because we blame the speed hump, we then get out of our energy vehicle of wisdom consciousness, grabbing what ever physical tool we have at hand to remove that speed hump, mistakenly believing that changing physical conditions is needed in order to continue on your journey to ultimate happiness.

Instead of the speedhump being a physical obstacle needing to be removed, what if we realised it was in fact a protective point of slowing down to recalibrate towards our wisdom GPS?!

An opportunity to tap mindfully into appreciating the landmarks on our journey...

Is the memory of yesterdays roadblock in the vehicle with you determining the experience of the road ahead not yet travelled?

Imagine how your journey would feel, when the speedbumps are experienced as points of reminders to slow down and appreciate your surroundings on the journey, instead of dreading future speedhumps you would be in grateful anticipation.

And being in a mindfully grateful state of anticipation, the speed humps disappear; as you realise that they were no longer needed as points of slowing down to mindful appreciation.

That our journey to ultimate happiness doesn't have a destination 'out there' connected to material conditions.

Rather, it arises from our mindful/heartful focus of appreciation of our joyful wisdom conscious in the present moment that creates our experience.

Joyful anticipation vs dreading is just one fresh insight away!
