Abundant thinking

Abundant thinking

Scared to be abundantly joyful in your life?
Is there are little voice that says if you are celebrating your life you are inviting a slap-down for being too cocky and self-assured?

Yet we are told by Allah (swt) if we are grateful for the good in our lives – which necessitates being joyful about said good things and celebrating our wins – then we will get more good; not less.

And what about the mentality of some Muslims, that if you publicize your joyful gratitude and celebrate your life, that you invite the evil eye and destruction? But surely if we display our gratitude to Allah (swt) through living a conspicuously joyful life, then we invite others to live their lives joyfully too.

Oh and what of those who say conceal your joy because someone who is suffering could witness your joy and feel bad? There is a big difference between boasting about what you have and mocking others if they do not have it; to simply living a conspicuously happy life and celebrating the wins.

So where is this dichotomous thinking coming from?
How do we combat it?

I know I do not want to live my life small, miserable and hidden for fear that someone will wish me ill. Surely, if I am grateful to Allah (swt) and turn to Him for protection then it does not matter what people may or may not think.
