Zahra Summayah is a convert Muslimah who is a trained Grief Counselor with multiple degrees in Psychology and a Master in Community Development. Along with her counseling and deep commitment to self-change, Zahra understood that socio-structural barriers can obstruct the self-empowerment process and as such has been equally committed to a career in social justice activism and humanitarian work, namely through social awareness campaigns and fundraising to improve the conditions of refugees around the world.

Through her new Muslimah coaching, Zahra aims to help other convert Muslimahs empower themselves through self-love, knowledge of their rights in Deen and realizing the great value that Allah (swt) has given them as women. Keenly aware of the obstacles many new Muslimahs face as they try to manifest their unique Muslimah identity, often criticized in both Muslim and non-Muslim communities; resulting in confusion, grief, and isolation.

Zahra compliments her work in self-change with activism and awareness raising in both Muslim and non-Muslim communities about the struggles of convert sisters; seeking systems and structural solutions to many of the problems they face.

Zahra spoke at the Me First Summit in February 2018 about how new Muslimahs can confidently claim their Muslimah identity and offers programs and resources through her sister's only online communities.

The topic of loving yourself in toxic relationships is deeply personal to Zahra, who has experienced abuse in marriage, is now offering programs to help new Muslimahs maintain their Faith in times of adversity and abuse. Zahra’s current program “5 tips to help new Muslimahs focus on being fabulous post-divorce” is based on the insights and wisdom gained through her personal struggle to not get disillusioned with her Faith choice despite not having the Muslim husband Islam promises.
