Talking about your feelings IS NOT the answer

Currently, I am gaining my "Back to the Fitra" certification in the Inside-Out coaching method under the guidance of sister Kathryn Jones; which daily turns on its head the years of mainstream counseling and psychology training I have done. This post is a case in point. Mainstream counseling and coaching would have you believe that in order to heal from your past hurts and present foggy thinking, that you need to talk about it, replay it, and experience it in order to let go.
HOWEVER
It is not so much talking about feelings BUT realizing that our feelings are based solely on our THOUGHTS in that moment. We do not have to keep rehashing past hurts, replaying them in our minds and conversations in order to find closure; in fact, digging up the past and rehashing it only makes it live in the present.
So, what makes our feelings less overwhelming?
Compassionately acknowledging they exist, recognize they are only created by the story you are telling yourself right now; the feelings are not caused by the past hurt nor are they caused by the present situation or experience - the feelings are ONLY caused by your thoughts.
Make your feelings less overwhelming by THINKING less overwhelming thoughts in the present.
